Arjuna awardee DSP Dalbir Singh found dead on New Year’s Eve in Jalandhar”

Jalandhar/Punjab: In a shocking and tragic incident, the lifeless body of Punjab Police DSP Dalbir Singh was discovered on the banks of a canal. The preliminary investigation indicates that he was shot, adding a layer of mystery and concern to this unfortunate event. Originally hailing from Jalandhar, DSP Dalbir Singh was posted in Sangrur and served in the Punjab Armed Police (PAP), earning recognition with the prestigious Arjun Award.

The authorities have swiftly initiated an investigation into this shocking incident, sending the DSP’s body for a postmortem examination to unearth more details about the circumstances surrounding his death. The discovery of his body, with an injury mark on his head and a bullet hole in his neck, raises questions about the events leading up to this tragedy.

According to reports, a recent altercation in a Jalandhar village had involved Dalbir Singh, where he reportedly discharged his licensed firearm. Although the dispute was seemingly resolved, it now casts a shadow of suspicion on the motive behind his demise. His lifeless body was found near Basti Bawa Khel Canal in Jalandhar, prompting the authorities to delve deeper into the unfolding investigation.

Initial speculations hinted at the possibility of an accident, but with the discovery of a bullet wound, the prevailing belief is that this is a case of homicide. Friends of the deceased DSP revealed that he had celebrated the New Year’s Eve with them, engaging in festivities and merriment. After the celebration, he was dropped off near the bus stand by his friends.

Punjab Police is actively pursuing leads in the case, focusing on scanning CCTV footage around the bus stand to piece together the events leading to DSP Dalbir Singh’s tragic end.
