Armed Robbers Loot Bike and Valuables of Sub-Inspector in Bihar’s Bhagalpur District

BHAGALPUR: A gang of five to six armed robbers looted a bike and other valuables from a sub-inspector in Naugachia in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district late on Thursday night. The victim, sub-inspector Umashankar Singh, was returning from Bihpur police station after some official work when the robbers intercepted him at Kharik village on the highway.

At gunpoint, the robbers looted the sub-inspector of his bike, cash and two mobile phones. They warned him of dire consequences if he shouted or revealed the incident to anyone. Following the incident, a large number of police forces reached the spot and conducted raids in the adjoining villages.

Sushant Kumar Saroj, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Navgachiya, stated that efforts are being made to identify the accused, and raids are underway to apprehend them.

The incident has once again highlighted the rising crime rate in Bihar, particularly on highways. It also underscores the vulnerability of law enforcement officials in the state. While the police have launched an investigation and intensified their efforts to catch the culprits, incidents like these serve as a reminder of the urgent need to strengthen security measures and ensure the safety of citizens and law enforcement officials alike.
