Bihar: Central IAS Association expresses deep dismay over Bihar Govt’s decision to release Anand Mohan

PATNA: The Central IAS Association has expressed deep disappointment over the decision of the Nitish government to release Bihar’s strongman leader and former MP Anand Mohan. The association has appealed to the Bihar government to reconsider its decision as soon as possible.

In a press released, IAS Association said, its deep dismay at the decision of the Bihar Government to release the convicts of the brutal killing of Late G Krishnaiah, IAS, former DM of Gopalganj, by a change in classification rules of prisoners… We strongly request the Bihar Govt to reconsider its decision at the earliest.

Anand Mohan, who is serving a life sentence for the brutal murder of the then DM of Gopalganj G Krishnaiah, is currently out on parole. However, the Bihar government has cleared the way for his release, along with 26 other prisoners, by making changes in the jail manual.

The IAS Association has raised concerns about the impact of such a decision on the morale of government employees and the trust in the law and order system. Uma Krishnaiah, the wife of the late DM, expressed her dissatisfaction with the decision, stating that it ‘has hurt her’.

The BJP has also questioned the Bihar government’s decision, while the JDU has defended it. However, the release of a convicted criminal, especially one guilty of such a heinous crime, has raised serious concerns among various groups and individuals.

The IAS Association’s appeal to the Bihar government to reconsider its decision highlights the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is served. It remains to be seen whether the Bihar government will take heed of the concerns raised by the IAS Association and others and reconsider its decision.
