Gopalganj: Renowned Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late father, Pandit Banaras Tiwari, by inaugurating a library in his native village of Belsand, located in the picturesque Gopalganj district of Bihar. Pandit Banaras Tiwari passed away on August 21 at the remarkable age of 99.
Tripathi, who recently earned acclaim with the ‘National Award for Best Supporting Actor’ for his remarkable performance in the film ‘Mimi’, expressed his deep sense of honor in contributing to the educational enrichment of the future generations of his village.
In a statement, the versatile actor shared his sentiments, saying, “By dedicating this library in the memory of my father, Pandit Banaras Tiwari, I hope to instill a love for knowledge and literature in the hearts of the students of Belsand, Gopalganj. Education is the most valuable gift we can bestow upon future generations, and it is a privilege for me to be a part of their educational journey.”
“This is unfortunately a period of loss and grieving for me. If Babuji was around, he would have been really happy for me. When I first got the National Award mention, he was very proud and pleased. This National Award I dedicate to him and his spirit. I’m who I am today because of him. I’m at a loss of words due to this time but I’m happy and grateful to the team,” he said.
To perpetuate the memory and legacy of their beloved parents, Pankaj Tripathi and his elder brother have established the Pandit Banaras Tiwari Foundation Trust. This noble initiative aims to serve the community and enhance educational opportunities in their hometown.
In addition to the library, Tripathi’s commitment to the welfare of the village extends to providing essential infrastructure. He has generously supplied electrical equipment and installed solar energy panels in the local school, ensuring access to modern amenities and sustainable energy sources.
Pankaj Tripathi, celebrated for his stellar performances in films such as ‘Newton’, ‘Stree’, and the popular web series ‘Mirzapur’, continues to make a positive impact not only on the silver screen but also in the lives of the people in his community.
