Portion of a road in Delhi’s Khureji Khas caves in, affecting morning peak hours traffic.

New Delhi: A portion of a road in the Khureji Khas area of Delhi caved in on Monday morning, causing significant traffic disruptions during peak hours.

The incident occurred around 7:30 am on Wednesday, when a stretch of the road near the Khureji Khas metro station gave way, leaving a large crater in the middle of the road. The area is a busy commercial and residential hub, and the cave-in caused chaos for commuters, who were stuck in long queues of vehicles for hours.

Officials from the Delhi Traffic Police, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation were soon on the scene to assess the situation and restore normalcy. Traffic diversions were put in place, and efforts were made to clear the debris and repair the road.

“The cave-in has caused significant damage to the road, and we are working to repair it as soon as possible,” said a spokesperson for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. “We have also launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the cave-in.”

The incident caused significant delays for commuters, especially those traveling to work during peak hours. The Delhi Traffic Police have advised motorists to avoid the area and take alternative routes.
