President Murmu, PM Modi, and other leaders pay tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary

NEW DELHI: On Friday, April 14th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu paid tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary at Parliament House lawn in Delhi. The occasion marks the 130th birth anniversary of the key architect of India’s Constitution, who is widely regarded as the father of the Indian Constitution.

The Prime Minister paid homage to Dr Ambedkar by offering a wreath of flowers at the statue of the Dalit icon, situated at the Parliament House lawn. The President, on the other hand, offered a garland to Dr Ambedkar’s statue, paying tribute to his immense contribution to the Indian Constitution and the nation at large.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said, “Hundreds of salutes to Pujya Babasaheb, who dedicated his life for the empowerment of the deprived and exploited sections of the society, on his birth anniversary. Jai Bheem!”

On Friday, President Droupadi Murmu extended her greetings on the occasion of the 132nd birth anniversary of the Dalit icon and the father of the Constitution, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.

Taking to Twitter, Murmu said, “I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all fellow citizens on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of the architect of our Constitution, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar on the occasion. “Tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution, who ensured justice and rights to the last person of the country, on his birth anniversary. Sacrificing all the comforts and facilities, he dedicated his life to the welfare of the underprivileged. His ideals and thoughts will continue to guide our path,” Shah said in a tweet.

Dr Ambedkar, born on April 14, 1891, was a visionary leader who dedicated his life to the upliftment of the oppressed and downtrodden in India. He was a prominent voice in the Indian independence movement and was responsible for drafting India’s Constitution after independence.

His contributions to India’s Constitution, such as the reservation system, the abolition of untouchability, and the establishment of a democratic and secular state, have been instrumental in shaping India’s political and social landscape.

The occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated annually across India to honor Dr Ambedkar’s legacy and his invaluable contributions to the nation. The day is marked by various cultural events, seminars, and discussions that highlight Dr Ambedkar’s life, work, and ideology.

The tribute paid by the Prime Minister and the President on this occasion is a reminder of Dr Ambedkar’s significant contributions to India’s development and a celebration of his life and legacy. It also highlights the importance of continuing to work towards the realization of Dr Ambedkar’s vision of a just and equal society for all.
