PATNA: The ninth day of the budget session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly was marked with chaos as a BJP MLA from Patepur, Lakhendra Paswan, broke the microphone during the question hour on Tuesday. The uproar began when issues related to social welfare were being discussed, and Paswan got up to ask a question. However, when the microphone was not working, Paswan vented his anger on the device and broke it.
The Speaker of the Assembly suspended Paswan from the proceedings of the House for two days. BJP alleged that after breaking the mic, Paswan was abused by the MLAs of the Left party. This led to a huge uproar in the House, and an attempt was made to calm the situation by calling the Marshal. Due to the chaos, the proceedings of the House had to be adjourned till two o’clock.

pic.twitter.com/4Rm4Ef1dVI
Earlier during the budget session, the BJP raised the issue of corruption against Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and raised slogans. The RJD, on the other hand, raised the issue of alleged misuse of central agencies of the central government. After the suspension of the BJP MLA, the BJP came out of the house and started a sit-in.
BJP Legislature Party leader Vijay Kumar Sinha said that the matter of breaking the mic was completely wrong and that it was not broken but opened. He also alleged that CPI(M) Male MLA Satyadev Ram had abused Paswan while asking supplementary questions.
The incident has once again raised questions about the functioning of legislative assemblies and the behavior of elected representatives. Such incidents not only disrupt the proceedings of the House but also reflect poorly on the lawmakers who are supposed to uphold the dignity of the institution they represent.
