Driving test is not mandatory for renewal of driving license.
NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has decided to make 58 RTO services online such as driving license, vehicle registration and paper work on purchase and sale of vehicles online.
On the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on September 17 said that providing such citizen-centric service in a contactless and faceless manner would go a long way in saving critical time of citizens while easing their compliance burden.
If a person wants, these works can be completed online without going to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) through Aadhaar number.
According to the report of news agency, this will also reduce the number of people coming to the regional transport offices for these works and these offices will be able to work in a more efficient manner.
The services that can be made available to citizens voluntarily through Aadhaar authentication include application for learner’s license, duplicate driving license, renewal for driving license.
Driving test is not mandatory for renewal of driving license. Apart from this, application for change of address for International Driving Permit, conductor license, change of ownership of vehicle, these are the services for which people can do it online if they want.
For common people will have to do authentication through their Aadhaar number. These services have only been started on a voluntary basis.
According to this notification issued on September 16, those who do not have Aadhaar numbers can apply for these services by physically appearing at the RTO office.
