Bihar: Lalu Prasad Yadav insists on demand for caste survey, affirming that it will take place as it is a public demand

PATNA: After stayed the caste survey by Patna High Court. The leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and former Chief Minister of Bihar, Lalu Prasad Yadav, made it clear that the demand for caste census is something that the majority of people want and it will happen.

Despite the High Court order, Lalu Prasad took a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that the party is afraid of counting the majority of backward castes. He also accused those who are against the caste census of being against equality, humanity, and supporting high-low, poverty, unemployment, backwardness, social and economic discrimination.

The Patna High Court had banned the caste survey on Thursday.

It is worth noting that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had ordered the caste survey in the state after the central government refused to make public the data of caste groups other than Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and religious minorities separately in the census. The BJP, which was also in the government along with Janata Dal United (JDU), has claimed that it is not against the caste survey and cited its support for the survey when it was in power in Bihar.

Meanwhile, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister said, “BJP people are celebrating the ban on caste based survey. These people are of double character”.

Their government at the center forbids caste census. This is not happening in any BJP ruled state. These are the people who end reservation and get it done. The majority of the people of the country have become aware of their truth, he added.

When the Bihar government had ordered the survey, BJP was also in the government along with JDU.

The BJP has been saying that it is not against the caste survey and for this it cites its support for the survey.
