Karnataka Congress to unveil next Chief Minister at Bengaluru meeting: DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah in the race

Bengaluru, Karnataka – A meeting of the Congress Legislative Party will be held at 17:00 in the state capital.

At 30:30 pm on Sunday, the much-anticipated announcement of the next Chief Minister of Karnataka will take place.

DK Sivakumar, Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and a likely prime minister candidate, confirmed the meeting to the PTI.

Supporters of rival factions display hoardings endorsing their leaders as Karnataka’s next Chief Minister, expressing their best wishes for their preferred candidate.

Reacting to this display, Karnataka Congress Working President Ramalinga Reddy stated to news agency ANI, “In every party, there are aspirations. DK Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah, MB Patil, and G Parameshwara, all have expressed their interest. However, the final decision regarding the chief minister will be determined by the party high command and the MLAs.”

DK Sivakumar, who has won another seat in the Kanakapura parliament, has held the constituency since 2008 and has proved popular with voters.

Another leading candidate is former Prime Minister Sidaramaiah, who served as head of state from 2013 to 2018. Siddharamaiah previously said this would be his last election. In the Karnataka general elections that just concluded on Saturday, the parliament won a spectacular victory, winning 135 of the 224 parliamentary seats, while the BJP won just 66 seats.

With all eyes on the Congressional Legislative Party meeting, political observers and citizens alike are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the next prime minister on the decisions that will shape the future of Karnataka.
