JAMMU AND KASHMIR: Police in Jammu and Kashmir claimed to have killed three extremists during an encounter.
Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have killed three Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists in an encounter in Munjh Marg area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday morning.
The search operation later turned into an encounter, he said.“Three terrorists linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT killed. Identification being ascertained. Further details shall follow, said Kashmir Zone Police.

The distance from Srinagar to Shopian is about fifty kilometers.
Police have identified two of the three terrorists killed. The police said that the slain terrorists were involved in the killing of a Kashmiri Pandit and a Nepali citizen. The police have also claimed to have recovered weapons from the spot.
Among 3 neutralised local terrorists, 2 identified as Lateef Lone of Shopian – involved in the killing of a Kashmiri Pandit Purana Krishna Bhat and Umer Nazir of Anantnag involved in the killing of Till Bahadur Thapa of Nepal and 1 AK 47 rifle and 2 pistols recovered, said ADGP Kashmir.
The encounter started between militants and security forces in Manj marg area, 1RR, 178 CRPF and other are on job, official said.
According to the police, security forces together have carried out this operation.
