Police launch manhunt for absconding criminals involved in Finance Office Robbery
Muzaffarpur: In a significant development, an intense encounter took place between the police and a group of robbers in the Siwaipatti police station area of Kanti, Muzaffarpur. The encounter unfolded as the police pursued the absconding robbers in connection with a recent robbery at a finance office in the region.
During the operation, three robbers were shot, and the police successfully recovered two pistols, multiple live cartridges, a laptop, and a carbine from the scene. Additionally, Rs 9 lakh of the stolen loot was also seized. The injured robbers have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment, as confirmed by SSP Rakesh Kumar.
Providing details about the incident, SSP Rakesh Kumar informed the media that a substantial amount had been looted from a finance office in the Kanti police station area of Muzaffarpur. Initially estimated at Rs 30 lakhs, the actual loot amounted to approximately Rs 21 to 22 lakhs. In response to the incident, the police swiftly formed a specialized team to investigate the case. Today, acting on specific information regarding money transactions involving the robbers, the police zeroed in on a litchi garden where the criminals were believed to be present. However, upon the arrival of the police team, the robbers opened fire.
SSP Rakesh Kumar stated that despite the police’s repeated calls for surrender, the robbers continued firing at them, leaving the police with no choice but to engage in retaliatory firing. Consequently, three robbers were injured in the exchange of fire. Alongside the recovery of Rs 9 lakh of the stolen money, the police are meticulously examining the evidence to build a comprehensive understanding of the incident. Presently, five robbers remain at large, prompting the police to launch extensive raids in an effort to apprehend them.
