Panic in Murshidabad district as man dies while planting bomb, ahead of Panchayat Elections

Political Blame Game Erupts Over Fatal Bombing Incident in West Bengal

KOLKATA: In a tragic incident on Saturday morning, a bomb explosion while planting in Beldanga, under the Murshidabad district of West Bengal, resulted in the death of one individual. The Congress party has accused anti-social elements associated with the Trinamool Congress of manufacturing the bombs, although the Trinamool Congress has denied these allegations.

The incident took place on Saturday around 9 am under the Beldanga police station limits at Madhyampur in Nahunpara, which caused panic in the area.

According to the police, a group of anti-social elements was reportedly involved in bomb-making activities within a mango orchard in the Beldanga area. During the process, an explosion occurred, causing severe injuries to a person named Alim Sheikh. Unfortunately, Sheikh succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital. Two other individuals who were injured in the incident are currently missing.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter. A police official disclosed that the deceased, Nihat Alim Sheikh, was a resident of the Natunpada area.

In the wake of the incident, political parties have started trading allegations and counter-allegations. Murshidabad District Congress spokesperson Jayant Das has accused the late Alim Sheikh of producing bombs for the Trinamool Congress. Das further claimed that stockpiles of bombs exist in various localities, criticizing the police for their indifference towards the issue.

However, Trinamool Congress district president Apoorva Sarkar has dismissed the Congress party’s allegations as baseless. Sarkar stated, “The tendency to associate the Trinamool Congress’s name with any criminal incident is a reflection of political bankruptcy. The police are actively searching for the culprits.”

Preceding this unfortunate incident, a violent clash between Congress and Trinamool Congress supporters occurred in the Godhanapada area of the district on Friday night. The Trinamool Congress alleges that two of its party workers were brutally attacked by Congress supporters, resulting in their deaths.
