List of prisoners to be released includes 13 names belonging to RJD’s core vote bank
PATNA: The Bihar government has issued a notification for the release of 27 prisoners, including former MP Anand Mohan Singh, who is known for his criminal background. The decision has come under criticism from the Bihar BJP spokesperson Dr. Ramsagar Singh, who accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of making a decision based on pressure from the opposition RJD. Singh also claimed that the decision to release the prisoners, some of whom are from RJD’s base vote, will not help Kumar in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The list of prisoners to be released includes 13 names belonging to MY equation, which is considered RJD’s core vote bank. Among the prisoners are Ashok Yadav, Shivji Yadav, Kirath Yadav, Raj Ballabh Yadav, Patiram Rai, Kishundev Rai, Mohd. Khudbuddin, Alauddin Ansari, Halim Ansari, Akhtar Ansari, and Dastgir Khan. The BJP spokesperson accused Nitish Kumar of failing to maintain law and order in Bihar, where criminal incidents are happening continuously.
In response, the JDU spokesperson Abhishek Jha defended the government’s decision, stating that it was taken according to the law and not to save anyone or implicate anyone. He criticized the BJP for targeting the government, pointing out that the rapists of Bilkis Bano were released in Gujarat, which he described as the real character of the BJP, which is anti-social.

The former MP is currently out on parole for 15 days and will return to jail in Bihar’s Saharsa after the end of his parole tomorrow.
